Stepping Stones Montessori School is dedicated to the global Montessori philosophy and offers a stimulating learning environment that is child-centred, culturally diverse and relaxed; where young children are nurtured and encouraged to be environmentally conscious as well as independent thinkers. We believe that our school provides a lifetime’s investment in the child’s life skills.
Our Diversity and Inclusivity (D&) vision is as follows: At Stepping Stones we are committed to creating a space which reflects our broader community, honours each person’s sense of self-worth and belonging, and is in alignment with the Montessori philosophy.
For us, Diversity is: Embracing a range of human experiences, values, behaviours and identities across, but not limited to, race, class, gender, sexuality, religion, ethnic or social origin, colour, culture, language, birth and ability.
And Inclusion is: Recognising and embracing differences positively and openly through ongoing proactivity and togetherness.
Our D&I Working Group, made up of parents and staff, work on projects across the school to bring this vision to fruition.
Stepping Stones Montessori School was founded in 1983 by a small group of motivated parents. These parents funded and sourced equipment, and in some cases built furniture. This commitment and enthusiasm for the Montessori philosophy & methodology, coupled with dedicated teachers, has filtered though every aspect of our school community and ensures the continuous growth of our school.
At Stepping Stones we are committed to creating a space where inclusion is actively practiced in order to work toward a more representative and just community within and beyond. We value diversity and inclusion at Stepping Stones and aim to increase equitable access to the school.
